Services

“I think I need a proofreader – but maybe I need an editor.

Hang on, what’s the difference?”

The editing pyramid:

Developmental editing

is a service that some writers, particularly book authors, need to obtain professional feedback and advice on big picture items. Think structure, plot, characterisation and pacing.

Line editing

is in-depth editing at word and sentence level to improve flow, clarity, tone and fluency. This kind of editing is sometimes described as being “more art than science” as it can be quite involved.

Copyediting

is more technical and mechanical. It’s the stage that focuses on style and formatting to ensure accuracy and consistency. This gives your writing a professional and tidy finish.

Proofreading

is the final error check that all writers need to invest in! It’s dedicated quality control of text and layout to guarantee perfection and give you peace of mind.

What does Click Copyediting offer?

Line editing

in-depth edits at word and sentence level to improve flow, fluency and clarity.

Copyediting

add a professional touch through style, formatting and consistency.

Proofreading

a final error check of text and layout to guarantee peace of mind.

Note that I usually combine line and copyediting, but long, complex pieces may benefit from multiple stages of editing.

I also offer editing and proofreading as a package.

The
Investment

Please get in touch for a bespoke quote. To provide a quote, I will need to see a representative sample of your text. For example, if you have written a book, I’ll need to see a chapter. If you’d like me to edit SEO articles, I will need to see an article by the same writer.

I base my prices on those recommended by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

I am happy to discuss retainer agreements.

If you’re unsure about which service you and your writing need, get in touch. Once I have seen a sample of your text, I will be able to give you a free, bespoke quote.
